Finally, this is my 4th trip in to grid this place, I keep going further and further away but always make one last sweep through the area by the 1st shed and where I see his huge footprints. Today I found him. I told myself, don't bring the camera, and you will find him.......so I did!

They were about 125 yards apart. The right side lay under a cedar by a abandon truck. I bet you I walked on the other side of the truck, at least 10 times. This would put me within 10 yards of him. Finally I came in at the right angle and I knew it was him as soon as I saw the tines.......probably about 17 scoreable points.

Now is it cheesy to get a cape for this guy?.......anyway shed #52!

I wouldn't hesitate on getting a cape for those. Great sheds, you get a score on them yet?

Awesome set!! It's always special when you find a shed your looking for.Bet you were smiles from ear to ear when you spotted it laying there.Glad to see your time and effort paid off for you.
There's nothing wrong with finding a cape and putting him on the wall in my book.

btw-what was your total last year?I know you were looking to find 100.

nope not 100, I was trying to reach 30 and I found 34. You are the 100 find man and are my hero because I think we chase the same type of deer, subdivision and city deer. At 53 right now, kinda running out of places to hunt, geez I might have to travel more than 5 miles from my house!! Anyway, 70 would be nice this yr. I probably have 3 weeks before green up. Then its over.

Sorry my mistake,I did a search of past post.I got you mixed up with Jonesy.Last year the last I heard his count was at 87 then never heard anymore from him.
I'd trade my numbers in a heart beat for some quality sheds you find.I find quanity, but many lack quality.
Congrats on 52 so far this year and good luck hitting 70.

Here is my
<
on having them mounted. I have a few shed racks mounted on plain boards and when company asks about the rack I tell them that they are just sheds that I have found. Then I show them the mounts of the REAL DEER on the other wall. Now if I had had the sheds mounted it would leave the impression to my guest that I had taken them while hunting. In my opinion they are just SHEDS not TROPHIES. I have a huge and I mean huge perfect 10 point matching pair of sheds that I could have used a cape and had them mounted along side the other deer mounts on the wall but I didn't. There is a sense of pride when a hunter shows off his trophies he has taken with a bow or gun. I believe I would leave your sheds the way they are or even like I did mount them on a board in a natural position. You can still show them off but everyone will know that they are sheds, not the real trophy that having a full head mount would insinuate. But never the less those sheds are real trophies in anyones book. GREAT FIND!!!

If it were me I would have them mounted, true it's not a trophy that you shot, but it is a trophy non the less. That rack has a lot of personality, and to me a mounted animal is the best art you can hang in your home. I have five mounted animals that I myself did not shoot, I have even purchased a whitetail mount on e-bay because the rack really caught my eye and struck my fancy. So I say mount them if you want.

In my opinion its just as hard to find matching sheds as to harvest the buck, so yes I would get a cape for him.

Great find there, im still searching for my first.

Mailman Bill-I agree there is a difference between sheds and animals harvested. To say sheds are not trophies I have to disagree though.I look at my sheds just as much as trophies as any animal I ever harvested.
I work just as hard looking for sheds as I do hunting with gun or bow,I probably put in alot more time shedhunting though.
I probably would never mount any sheds I found on a cape myself.I like the idea of being able to handle and play around with my sheds.
Either mounted on a cape or laying around, sheds are trophies.

Hope he has been an active breeder, those long tines and character points are awsome.
