I have been shed hunting for 3 years, so since I was 12. At first, I only searched a bottom below my neighbors house, thinking thats where all the deer were... The next year I moved from there, to a bottom below a big field, where i had seen deer sign from the past deer season. Nothing here either. So this year, I have started shed hunting the field, and the area around the field, using trail cameras as a tool to find out what deer have shed and which ones haven't yet. I started really looking a week ago, searching all along the backside of the field, in the pine thickets and around the pond, and through the deer trails...

Then yesterday, I decided I would try a new spot. Below the big field there is a smaller one, where all the turkeys gather in the spring. There is a road that leads into the smaller field, but it has no entrance point that I know of... I walked down the road, accessing it from the woods, and when I got to the field, i cut hard right and started heading down a small hill... Immediately after entering the woods from the trail, something white at the base of a tree caught my eye. I walked over, pulled it up and heres what i got... It is probably last years or 2 years ago's shed... we have a squirrel problem

Great eye spotting that one! It sounds like you are on the right track to finding more where that came from. It took me 3 years of seaching to find my first one too, once you get the hang of it you will start picking up more and more every year...just takes practice and persistance. Congrats on the unique double beam shed....too bad the squirrels beat you to it, but a cool one none the less
