Found Yellow Lab in Los Banos

All, a friend of mine who lives in Los Banos found this Yellow Lab walking the streets. She took it in fed and watered it and has taken it for walks around her neighborhood hoping to come across the owners with no luck.

Does anyone know who this old pooch belongs to? She'd really like to get it back to it's owners, rather than take it to the shelter, but she's already got too many animals at her house to keep it until the owner is located.

I have asked for details like sex, as I can't tell from the picture. I know it had no collar on it. She is going to take it to the vet to see if it is chipped. But if anyone recognizes this dog let me know and I'll get you in contact with my friend.

Update to add additional information:

He is an intact male, wearing a HUGE desert camo collar. Older, maybe 8-ish? He is chipped but no one registered the owner information. He was chipped in Texas. The TX clinic has so far been unable to find any information

That is great but that is why it is always good to register the chip with all your info

The chip was registered, the vet who read it read it wrong or something. The owners confirmed this according to my friend.

Yep it is. Has been since the day it was found actually. Owners lived a block and a half from my friend who took the dog in.
