I won the lotto and got drawn along with my son for one of the free Tejon pig management hunts. Went Mon-Wed of this week. It was basically their two day guided hunt with all food, lodging and guide provided. View attachment 84374 View attachment 84375 We each got a pig and had a blast. Got to live like a big spender for once.

Does it get any better than that?

A few days in a beautiful place with your boy and two nice hogs.

Way to go dad!

Awesome Pics. I also won this hunt from CDA and am going in March. How was the experience and what all did they provide? What should I expect? Did you opt for the additional tag? How much walking or hiking did you do and is there game storage after you kill your animal? Do they allow any varmint hunting?

Great guides, you will have to do some hiking...They do have a cold storage freezer. Not sure about the varmint hunting. They will take good care of you!

They provide everything but your clothing and rifle. You stay in a cabin with two other CDA winners and two guides (one for your group, one for the other group). You and your partner have your own room in cabin. All bedding, towels, etc... is provided. Only food or drink you'd need would be if you wanted or needed something special. They provide muffins, coffee, cereal for breakfast, snacks, lunch and drinks during day, and a lady comes to the cabin each night and cooks you dinner. Its pretty sweet.

You hunt from your guide's truck. Not much walking. They seem to do a lot of road hunting- trying to cover alot of ground hoping to spot pigs in the open. They seem a little reluctant to get too far from the roads to shoot anything. Not sure if its because they just don;t need to, because they get alot hunters who just can't walk, or if the guides themselves just don't want to walk. The two other hunters in the cabin with us didn't look like they could make a 1/4 mile hike from the truck. My son shot his out of a group that ran right across the road in front of the truck (I am proud of him-it was a really nice shot). My pig took a little walking. We walked out on a point to glass and spotted pigs on a brushy hillside across a canyon. We drove around above them and walked maybe 300yds down to them and I shot it. Unfortunately it ran even further down the hill before it died and it weighed at least 250lbs so we had to quarter it and pack it out. Only real physical part of the hunt. Guide will even gut and skin your pig for you if you want- you don'teven really need to bring a knife if you don't want to. I had my son help so he could get the experience. You just need to bring ice chests or game bags to take the pigs home in.

After you get your pig, they will keep driving you around and you can shoot coyotes if you see any. Don't know about any other varmints. But they don't want you doing it until after the pigs so you don't scare anything away.

I didn't do it but You can add an extra pig for $250. You have to do it when you first get there. I don't think you can wait and see if you have the opportunity for an xtra pig and then pay for it after.

Dang. I just came back from an unsuccesful day at ShortFence in Coalinga ... and on the drive back... I was struck by how green and pretty the hills were at Tejon Ranch and Lebec admiring them from the Grapevine. And was thinking no wonder everybody talks about the pigs at that place! Saw the cows crazing there and thought, yeah, bet they grow nice and big. So very cool to come home... logon and then see these amazing pics that connect to my experience and thoughts today! Thanks for posting. Great... now I gotta figure out how to save up enough money for a hunt out there, hehe!
