I am looking for a mechanic who hunts in the Fresno/Central valley area. Please PM if you have knowledge on transmissions in regard to a 1996 GMC Yukon.

A couple of things you should do for yourself:

Two, crawl under your truck and look at your transmission pan to see which trans model you have.

Knowing what transmission is in your truck is a good thing. You can do LOTS of internet research about it and discover LOTS of interesting things...

It should be a 4l60E. I'm not close enough to help you much but I am a GM dealership mechanic. Good luck with your issue.
