After trying a lot of different camera settings I froze this guy/gal in flight. 50mm 1.8, F3.2, 1/1600 sec.

Nice catch, and with the nifty fifty! How close were you?

For the price, that has to be one of the best lenses.

The camera was on a tri-pod at maybe 2 feet, I pre focused the lense on manual settings. I used an electronic shutter release from inside the kitchen window, when a hummingbird would show I just clicked the button. At first they would take off at the sound of the shutter but after a while they could have cared less, they were hunger and after the grocery's, I took several photos while standing at the camera. The 50 mm lense at 1.8 is a great little lense for the money, I found mine in a camera shop used and paid $65.00.

And here all this time I've been doing it the hard way. Chasing hummers around with my 100-400!
