Any porker from Hunter Liggett is a trophy. Congrats! I've seen many but have not connected yet. I've been there when it got down to 18 degrees in December. Damn cool in the tent.
Just like mateca3 said any porker from Hunter Leggett is a trophy no matter what weapon. Ft Hunter leggett gets so much pressure most hogs have gone nocturnal. Slow down look on the ground for signs fresh tracks, keep a log of sightings after a awhile you'll connect.
you are right pwa almost all the hogs we saw new years weekend came out right at dark. We saw quite a few close to 30. Ikilled a sow probably around 240-250, gutted it bottomed out a 200lb scale. maybe if I ask nice HUNTIN FOOL will post the pictures for me he was the only 1 with a camera. our group missed 2 other hogs. the same day. it was probably my 12th time hog hunting there and the first time I saw hogs,(while hog hunting) but we saw plenty, some nice boars too.
If you want me to post a picture i can buddy, let me know. By the way my comp wouldn't burn those pics on a cd but the old lady is gonna get a program to burn them, once i get them on a cd i'll let preston know.
The big boar I glassed up on New Year's eve day there stepped out of the thick stuff about 4:15 pm. He was bedded about half way up a steep slope on the western side of the hill. He appeared to be by himself. It was cold that afternoon/evening so he may have wanted an early start on the acorns to get his boiler going. Feathesnhoof got a shot at a big pig below me later but I didn't see that pig so I'm not sure if it was the same one or not.
Fool, did you have to shoot that hog for him? I am sure you did if it was more than 20 foot away!!!!! Bet you had to drag it to the jeep too!! I have seen him do both and it was a sad sight.
Can't get ya on the damn phone!! At least I could see that one and as I recall it was a fair poke accross there, I think we need to go back this fall. If we can cough up the cash to do so then maybe go shoot a cow for groceries. We got a limit of chukars the other day, but like to have killed my fat ass doing it!
Here is more pics of hogs my Buddy mike and I taken in 1 day about 4 years back not to far from the 1st picture posted was. As you can see one hog was beheaded to save weighted from draggin out of the bush. We had loaded it in may tacoma, but you should have seen how much weight there was in the back, it made the front tip up a bit. As you can see I had my hair a little longer( Dam hippy). This was taken at the game shack when cindy walker use work there.
The biggets had a inch and half tusk and weighted in @190lbs
