From the form:

"Information on weapons registration is furnished to Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Customs services, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, state and local law enforcement, etc., for investigation and prosecution when such cases fall within their jurisdiction."

Long gun registration in CA wasn't supposed to happen until 2014 but it looks like they are going to make you register em one way or another. Or am I reading this wrong and they won't forward this registration to state of CA?

Weapon registration was not that bad. The police will check your weapon at the guard shack to make sure it isn't loaded. Then the registration form must be turned in at the police station on base. The whole thing took 20 minutes.

Like sicoda said it was pretty easy, but effective may 1st the guns will not be allowed on base untill reg. is complete.
I didn't take the chance of turn away so my buddy and all the guns set in the trees out by the tank while I went in and reg.
this is the best way. I also saw One guy reg his group with form and photo copy of licence for each. write your ssn on the form or it's a long drive back to your group. also don't make a color copy of your licence. it's against the law and you can be arrested for it. It's hot and the snakes are out. I got a nice rattler that a half a step more would have gotten me. I saw lots of deer, a lone elk, had a coyote come up on me during a nap under an oak tree and gobblers everywhere. could have got three different birds at 20 yards easy.

Archery Weapon registration @ FHL???

ALL weapons? How about Archery?? I called twice just to verify registering my bows. The lady at the police operations desk said no. I called a week later again they said no. BUT the guard said to make sure I register my bow. In May, I registered all my firearms. Got my papers, so good to go. I don't want to show up for Archery season in a few days and told that I cant hunt. Anyone else go info?

+1 and what if you are going to hunt LPNF at the end of Del Venturi Road or on the other side of FHL on Nacimiento Ferguson? What happens if you get pulled over while passing through the installation with your gun that's not registered?

Heya JH, sorry to resurrect an old thread but this question above fit what I've been hunting for on the forum and I see that it is unanswered.

I like to hunt in the southern part of LPNF just outside FHL...without actually doing any driving through the base (like I did the last time I was out there), do I need to register my firearm?

Essentially I am taking Nacimiento Ferguson around the base to Del Venturi Road and then onto Indians road.

If anyone has a contact at the base that they have spoken to recently, please PM me with the name as I don't want to sit on hold too long or reach someone who isn't knowledgeable on the phone.

Thanks,
-M
