According to this collared elk study, moon phase is irrelevant. It did occur on a huge fenced in experimental forest with no wolves and other predators. Still, some good sciencey stuff for you that are in it.

I love science based papers that can benefit hunters. I did something similar in school but looked at pronghorn and their nocturnal movements.

As for this elk paper...the other big thing I noticed that they were all cow elk and there was no 1000 lb bull harassing them for some action. That could be a big consideration of their lunar movements too.
