gemsbok and kudu, best place

My question is if I wanted to put together an african adventure and really wanted a kudu and a gemsbok, which area would be best.

All other species would be secondary.

I don't care so much of it is fenced or not.

Have heard that Namibia might be the ticket.

What other destinations would also have decent populations of each?

South Africa and Namibia are the best and easiest. If you shop around, you can find some PHs/Outfitters that have great package hunts, were you can get what you want (or add to).

If you want a different Gemsbok to put on the wall, you can look at the Fringe-eared Oryx in Tanzania. It will be more expensive, but you’ll probably be the only one with a Fringe-eared Oryx and East African Greater Kudu on the wall.

Tough call with those two. For Gemsbok, Namibia is definitely the place, but I think there are more and better kudu in the bushveld of Northern SA. If I were you I would find a place in NW RSA where both overlap.

Some areas have little or no Kudu due to a Rabies outbreak a while back, so talk to an Outfitter/PH and confirm they currently have Kudu in Namibia. Some areas hold big kudu however, so choose wisely. Hands down it's the place for Gemsbok, but again, check the trophy quality before you book your hunt. We've had very good success in Namibia this year, so careful research will pay off. Good hunting, GGS

Funny you should mention those two critters. They were 1 and 2 on my list. After ten days, I never had a shot at either one. But, that was bowhunting from a blind and a few days of spot and stalk. If you are talking RIFLE, you could tag out in RSA in a few days. Either way, Ken Moody Adventures could definitely hook you up.
