getting ready to do my yearly texas hog hunt.got a new rem 700 adl 30-06 put a leupold vx II 3x9X40 on top. went to the range shot 1 1/4 inch groups at 100 yards with 180 gr rem core lokt. but the last bullet jams sometimes. so i called remington and they are going to send me a new box spring and folower.i just hope they get it right this time last week what they sent me was a main spring. after all the work i did to free float the barrel , have the stock cut down put a recoilpad on and it does shot sweet. to have to take it apart and sight it in again is a pain. but im sure glad they are willing to send me the parts and not make me send the gun in. the ranch owner is letting us hunt doves in the mornings for free you just cant beat that should be a great time. i hope to have some pics when i get back . we are going in oct so the ranch man said bring snake gear , im not to use to snakes that can hurt you beingfrom western oh

I have the same rifle. I've been thinking about getting a VX 11 for mine. How do you like it ? I have an FX 11 on my brush gun and it is very bright for the price. I'm looking for hand gun for back up. Right now I just carry a mod 66 .357, but want a .44 or .454 Casull.

i havent used it in the field yet. im going to maine to bear hunt in sep, after that hunt and my texas hunt i can give you a true report. those hunts will put it to the test. i have a vx 1 on my 7-08 and it will go past any leupold or nikon binoes i have used in low light so im sure i will be happy with the vx II. it has 8% more light transformation..357 is a good gun but not what i want for backup on bears or big hogs. this may sound crazy but after i put the recoilpad on my 30-06 it has alot less felt recoil than my 7mm-08 savage. the 08 recoil cuts into you when the 06 just is a push. stock design and a good recoilpad makes a huge difference.

return from texas had some bad weather but still had a great time . i shot a 240 pound sow at 221 yards. my friend shot a 90 pound pig at 100 yards with the help of a spot light. we trapped 4 90 pound pigs. came home with the bacon. old school67 i love the vx-II does great at low light. shot some fed fusion 165 gr ammo out of the 30-06 today shot 5 rounds in a 1 inch group at 100 yards now im happy with the gun
