I am no old man, close though. The map is correct and ALL Corps of Engineers lands are shotgun or bow only nationwide. Just look it up. I do not own any of the land there, i have grown up hunting and fishing that area for prolly more years than you have been alive. I know what I am talking about, if you do not believe me than go ahead and take your chances. Just know that you were warned. I have spoke with the Wardens and that Land Owner and they are VERY aware of what is going on.

The land between Edison point and Sycamore is, it is shot gun or bow ONLY, however; not much there due to Trimmer Springs Road. The only place you can use a rifle is on Forest Service Property. Again, ALL Corps property is Shotgun or Bow ONLY.

No problem, I will try and help ya as much as possible. I know the area very well and have hunted and fish it for many years, i am not trying to keep you from going across the lake either I am just trying to tell everyone that they are watching like crazy due to the trespassing issues. I myself would not go unless I was dead nuts correct about where I was and where i am. I am in that area every week, usually multiple times fishing and or hunting, I also have met that land owner and ranch hand multiple times, i have even got permission to hunt that ranch once. I don't want to see fellow hunters either lose their stuff or get a huge fine maybe even lose their boat or who knows, i do know the game Warden in that area and he would arrest and give his mom a ticket, he doesn't play. So whatever you decide, just make sure you are on your game, stop by the Army Corps office right below the dam, talk to the Rangers and get some maps.

Are we able to travel on trimmer road and go all around the lake without trouble or is that road private?

Trimmer Springs Road only runs along the North side of the lake, there is no public road that goes onto the south side, that is why people are taking boats across. If you are looking for public land I would suggest looking around Delilah Lookout area, try and find areas that butt up against private, i have heard of people getting hogs there. It is very thick and as you head north it gets very steep towards the back. I have also heard of people getting hogs back by camp 4 and camp 4-1/4, again very steep and thick, however you can camp there for free and find trails to hike/explore all day and night.

Sniper1 is correct. I know and have hunted this area before. The public land is very minimum and not worth my pursuit. There are pigs in there but mostly on private land and they do come down to public huntable land or the lake but just not worth my pursuit. All other public land to the north and south of here are over hunted and pigs are mostly in the privates. Sorry to be discouraging also but it is huntable and still a hunt. Try it out for yourself. You never know a pig may come down to the lake on the day you least expected. Best of luck!

My GPS indicates majority of the south side of the lake is us forest service so I assume rifle hunting is fine. Only a small portion is army/military. Also private land boarders close to the lake also...need to bouble check my map overlay to see if its correct...but again...this place is to far for me to drive to to just explore ..as much as I love hiking...it is far coming from the bay area....

Very welcome, not trying to keep anyone from hunting or having a great time doing what i love to do as well, just don't want to have anyone get into trouble.

Happy Hog chasing ......

I'd be interested in checking out the pine flat lake area. Any lake with public lands that is known to hold hogs sounds good for me.

I'll be up north of SF and don't mind stopping by if anyone wants to cover some land together next week!

PM me.
