My oldest son leaves Sunday for UC Davis, so before we get him all packed up and ready to go I figured I go hunting with him one more time. So I called a friends with a nice size ranch near Lake Sonoma and got permission to take him it there.
We got to the property around 6pm and started walking. Got on a doe and get fawn around 5 minutes into the hunt. She ran off and no bucks followed, so on we went.
We head up a fire road about 200 yards where the road forks. I look left and about 80 yards away there's a hog coming down small hill. My boy gets on one knee puts the animal in his scope and boom.... He misses. The hog about 5 yards and stops boom he misses again.
We follow the direction of the hog and she it comes from under a huge oak about 50 yards out. This tine he pulls the trigger and the hog never moved another inch. So happy I was able to help him get this hog right before he leaves.
