Memorial weekend I got invited to hunt my friend's ranch near Davenport. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck, Ev. Ought to be a hog in there somewhere.

I'll be down at Rancho Del Oso... part of the Big Basin Park, so no hunting, but there'll be lots of daydreaming.

Why don't I have friends with ranches like this? All my friends own suburban 3 bedroom homes ...

I am awaiting some dead hog pictures.

Speck: Big Basin is great. I went there late last year. Couple coons woke us, trying to get into the Gumbo pot. There I was, them staring at me and no GUN. No coon skin hat this way! Darn park rules!

Hint - start scouting for Zone A.

You'll score a toad out of there if you can swing it.

Great country for deer at least. Should see something if you look hard...

Unfortunately I'm going home to be in Hawaii most of the A season, I think I'll only be back for the last week of it or something to the likes. I'll probably buy an over the counter and try to get one the last weekend if school permits. Saw tons of deer sign up there last time, a bunch of hog sign as well. Also saw some cat sign, looked too small to be mountain lion. And also what looked to me like a few bear tracks.

Hunted half the day on saturday and didn't see a thing. Saw tons of deer sign, a raccoon, a tree squirrel, and a doe. There wasn't really any fresh hog sign, some real real old rootings though. Shot skeet on sunday, went wakeboarding, caught a few trout, went plinking with the 22. Drank way way too much this whole weekend and just got home, I'm gonna sleep for 2 weeks straight.

Was just up the coast from you last weekend. Saw a BIG dead hog on the roadside off Highway 1. Nothing around Big Basin, though. The trappers have been at 'em again, I guess.

You could have stayed home here around cowpoly and had the same results, especially the drinking part...

Yeah, but this ranch is a blast. 2 lakes with a boat for wakeboarding. Free food and drinks all weekend. 3 shotguns and boxes and boxes of clay pigeons, great hiking up the valley, flyfishing for trout....redwoods, rivers...you get the picture...aint got that here
