i dont really believe it. i know ranchers that trap them and move them about the state in trucks. they release them for hunters.

i flat out asked a rancher. this is what he told me. he buys them 100 at a time.

Believe it! I know two ranchers in TX who are dealing with the problem. One has a full-time trapper (some old timer) who barely dents the population despite sometimes trapping 50+ hogs per week. For a very interesting and informative first-person discussion see this thread (when you have a free hour to read it in entirety!): Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas - THR

There are so many hunters in Texas that would love to go hunting pigs, but Texas does not have that much public land with pigs. If you want to hunt pigs in Texas you either need to own land or pay a rancher to let you hunt. There is no going there and expecting to hunt becuase they say there are too many pigs. It's all bussiness.

Hogs

I've talked to a couple friends who are down there and a few regular customers that complain of the problem. One customer purchases all of the .243 we have in stock just for shooting hogs.

It's one of those grass is greener issues. Up here in Ohio I would love for there to be wild hogs to hunt. I doubt the farmers up here want to deal with them though. Sounds like a few of us need to make a road trip down to Texas.
