i just put in for NM elk. i foolishly have a "good feel" about every year only to have my dreams dashed by some random number generator...

but this year, i swear, it feels different. i have that "good feel" again. i will practice religiously on targets, turkeys, and pigs until that time in september...:4 leaf clover face:good luck everyone.

I also have a good feeling about the draw this year, that's why I only applied for a bonus point in AZ. This is my first time that I've gone "point only" but I think I'm going to draw the mule deer strip tag this time and I don't want to get distracted.:archer green:rayin :

man. i just got the phone number of a landowner. i actually called him last year, and he offered two tags to me and my bro, for $2k ea. bowhunting. i was just about to get married last year, so i balked at the money. this year, i have a secret piggie bank going...so it is feasible. but my new wife is laid off, and back in school so i need to be thoughtful.

why am i obsessed with ELK? this is a fun curse.

Dann,you already are lucky if you have that tag,or even some points! I have a neighbor who has hunted there for years and I'd be real happy with the ones he calls,raghorns....he has taken several BC elk.

You can draw in CA. for elk,I've been trying for years unsuccessfully...and I got drawn last year in NM on my first try.

Wow!....No drawings in CA or NM? Do you realized what you just said? That to me means elk tags are over the counter in CA or NM. Maybe in some unit in NM, but CA?......sheesh! if there was such a thing. Yeah I know you're BSing, but Bret probably has no clue about CA elk hunt. So he probably asked the question in a wrong way. I believed Bret had not been participating in any CA elk drawings before. So don't be too proud of your one down. There is nothing down.

Back on topic, with max points, I have a feeling anything can happen if I apply for a cow tag. But I really want to shoot a roosey or tule bull. We'll see what I feel like checking on the application when I fill it out.

I'll get my CO tag for sure... too many points for my zone, but at least it's a shoe-in. Hopefully the rest of my party will draw too (if the remember the deadline, they'll probably draw).

Will make my annual donation to the CA elk fund, and who knows? I think I have max points for elk, so sooner or later it's gotta come through... right?
