Well buck season started here on march 3rd so it was time to go into the hills.I have been threatening to go into the hills on this site for quite some time now.Well by day three i had confirmed that anything of the size i was after(bucks) wasn't even coming onto the paddocks of a night, just hanging on the fringes of the hill.So for me to get one of these I would have to go onto the top of the hill well before daylight. So i could get them wandering up the banks.
After a solid hour of slowly but surely wandering up steep barren rock slopes i came to a spot i call the pinikle. This spot is a 3 to 4 metre hight shear(almost) rock face. With little goat tracks across the rock face.Real easy to get an avalanche going.Only just moonlight enough to put my feet down let alone look for sheds.
Well half way up this rock face i thought i'd take a break and have a drink.I sat my rifle down on a flat part of track, removed my pac and took a breather. As my eyes wandered(lol) about the ground i realised that between me and where I had just put my rifle was a good ol shed.I could not believe it.I had nearly sat on the thing.I wanted to who yeh so load but couldn't,so my reaction became a huge silent air punch with a little tssssssss thrown in.
I tried to take pic without flash but it was way to dark.I bet i put everything off rumaging around flashing pics at this shed, but ohwell.
But because it was season i left the shed on the slope and kept walking to my destination.Didn't want the clutter of a shed hanging off me whilst trying for a buck.I was going to come back and get it after the hunt.
Well after hunt i came back down the slope to pic my shed up but i couldn't find it anywhere. It was like it had disapeared.I though a buck may have got it or a bloke.I wandered aimlessly around the rocks in a daze for 2 hours trying to find it,but couldn't.It was like i had just lost a million dollar bill,i was totaly and utterly gutted. On return to camp i showed the ol man my pic,"shame bout that" he replied. All day i was so pissed off at my loss.
BUT,, AND YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS.The next morning i went back up the hill same time same place. And found the bloody thing in the moonlight exactly where i had left it.When i was looking during day i was no where near it,80 yards along the bank lmfao.
Sorry no daytime as it lay, when i found it the next morning(moonlight an hour before daylight) i was only to keen to have the clutter of this shed hanging off me.
