Here is a pic of my first wild pig taken at Pig Point Ranch with King Connection guide Terry Manthey. My pig wasa about 75 lbs and my friends Rany's was around 200.
Kentuck............Nice going. How about some details of the hunt, area, guns ,etc. It would calm the nerves a little while we wait for the draw!..........Erich.
Congrats on the Porkers.....I remember my first hog, its a great feeling....Good looking pigs the smaller one should be REALLY tasty....Crank up the BBQ.....
The junt took place up above Lakeport. The hunt is just about gauranteed in that if you don't get a pig out on the perimeter as I would say it you can go into an enclosed area that contains about 15 pigs (minus two now). Of course the outisde area was void of pigs so we were sent into the enclosed area. The landowner has fneces about 20 or so acres and originally put some sows into the enclosure to help attract boars to the property. The land is THICK and steep. Spen most of our time sliding down the hill. After a couple of hours we found a small group of hogs and got two. There was one in the group that would go 300 easy. I used my .30-06 with 165 grain Core-loc bullets and my firend Randy used his .264. Not sure what size bulltes he used. Both kills were head shots of about 15 feet for Randy and about 25 feet for me. Not exactly the kind of hunt you see on some videos but it was kind of fun and one of the cheapest around. Terry Manthey was a real nice guy and I am thinking of hunting with him next spring for Turkey.
Opened my new issue of Western Outdoor News and my friend Randy and I have a picture of us and our hogs on the front page! Pretty cool! Pics a little dark but it is still cool!
