Well i spent that last few days up in Vandenburg. Took me three nights but i finally shot me a biggin. You would never guess where I found him. He was on the beach eating crabs. He weighed in at 323 lbs. Learned my lesson though. Those big boars stink so bad i do not even think i will be able to eat him. Also towing him back to the truck was a four hour task and nothing i care to do again without some help.

Congratulations,

Well I guess 4hrs of dragging that big dude lowered the quality of the meat considerably, ...crab fed hog sounds like it should taste real good. I'm a complete rookie as I have not got a hog yet. The hi timers say to soak the quartered clean meat in ice water with a cup of vinegar and quart of lemon juice per 5gals ice water and change the water till it comes clean. I have been spending WAY too much time on these boards!

Give us some more details on the hunt, alone, how do you get a permit for Vandenberg??

Good hunting,

Jim - Killzone

CONGRATS ROOKIEHUNTER !!! WAY COOL !!

did you nab the guy out west of Shuman Creek, where the northbound railroad tracks make that right-hand turn to the east ?? My pal Tim and I wandered around out there in early January and saw nothing at all. The DFG guy told us that had been a good spot and pigs had been seen.

FANTASTIC !!!!!

Cheers,

Carl

Have ya ate any of him yet? Crab stuffed pork tenderloin, num-num! My Grandfather said they used to take the team of horses to Pismo and plow up tons of Oysters to haul back to the ranch to feed to the hogs! Great hunt!

Anybody been up there lately? I will have my new rifle in hand in about a week and am looking forward to getting up there and finding myself a nice hog.
