Got the call from a friend of my folks. "We're overrun with hogs and their tearing the place up". All right we'll see what we can do for you ma'm. We drove out to the ranch Sat. morning and saw a big 'ol boar, 2 sows and about 8-10 little football size piglets driving in. When we got to the ranch house and told the owner about the pigs we saw driving in she said, "why didn't you shoot em"? We didn't know the ranch boundaries we told her. Her answer was those people would have no problems, they hate the hogs also. Next time.
This ranch had more pig sign than any place I've ever seen.

Well we drove around and got a feel for the boundaries and then took a little walk. It was late in the morning already and we didn't expect to see much as we were just looking the land over and it was really warming up. My son and I set up above a meadow and decided to see if anything would come through. About 20 minutes later out come 4 hogs. Two shots and two hogs down! Two breeding machines taken out of the gene pool...just what the rancher was looking for.

Now that we've done what was asked of us we'll be back for more thinning of the heard. Though this time I may just have to hold out for a big 'ol tusker

Great job! Hogs can do some damage in a hurry if left unchecked. Way to do you part and keep at it, won't be long before you have the run of the hills!

Thanks.
Looks like we'll be heading back to the ranch the weekend of 13th&14th if everything goes as planed.
This ranch is only about 10-11 miles as the crow flies from Lake Sonoma but it's a lot thicker. Most people in the area hunt with dogs but we'll just have to hunt em the way we know how. So far so good.
