Grizzly Island ELk

I have been hunting for almost 20 years. I have been putting in for a Grizzly Island Elk tag the entire time. Not once have I drawn. My youngest daughter has been hunting for 3 years. She put in for a Cow Elk tag this year and drew it. She hunts period one (Aug 12-15). We are super excited! Anyone else here on the forum draw a Grizzly Island tag in the past?

That is the luck of the draw. I stopped putting in for CA bull tags. I will be dead before I get one. I have been trying the cow or anterless tags...odds are better.

I always put in for the cow/antlerless tags too. I already killed a bull Elk in 2003 in Wyoming so I have a rack of antlers. I am a meat hunter anyway, so scoring antlers doesn't matter to me.

I drew a cow tag in 2006. I believe it was the third season, but would need to check to make sure. By the time the season rolled around the elk weren’t hanging out in the open like they were before the hunt started. If you have any questions, let me know and I will answer them the best I can. FYI DFGelk on here is a standup guy and is full of information.
