Anyone use this outfit? I ran into them last weekend. They claim to have 15 of the top 38 hogs taken in CA from this single ranch. They use dogs. 300 bucks for a hunt. Any info would be appreciated.

They have lots of hogs + lots of headaches!

Probably no problem on a fully guided hunt, Don's son is a hog hunting machine, I have never seen a person who can hike like Chipper - he will work hard to find hogs. Bring plenty of water!

But I would avoid a self-guided hunt or a 'membership' offer. Way too many trespassing issues, irritable neighbors, 'friends & family' on the property, etc.

I always saw hogs on the property though, some days I would see 40-50 while hunting on my own. The hunting is much better in the fall & winter.

After a few days at Panoche, Tejon was a dream and worth every penny. But I don't regret trying Panoche, it was a learning experience.

Thanks mudhen, I was not aware of any of the other options, just the guided hunt. They did mention that it would not be good to hunt during summer. I might try them this fall.

Tarheel, yes, I put in for bull this time. I have no points this year though.

Back in my younger days early 70's I worked for a taxidermist, and for years after I helped out at times and was a shop groupie, he started booking hunts throught the shop and during that time turned me onto some free ones and some very discounted one's, one day back in the late 70's he started booking pig hunts and old NO NAME was offering a pig hunt for free to him as a try and see if you like it, he asked me you want to go, he could not make it so I took my brother, we got up to his ranch on Friday, he had a old dirty 40 foot trailer on it for them that wanted to stay in the lap of luxury
<
when we got there, there were dog houses all over the place like 30-40 of them with every kind of dog you can imagin, from springers to poodles to boxers never saw a hound, the place stunk of dog and dead pigs with a bizillion flys, there was a mound of pig feet no kidding at least 2-3' hi I looked at my brother and said we must be in the right place, well old NN and I think it was his son in law showed up about 3 and said lets go pig hunting we split up in two trucks and where driving down the road and his son in law says to me there's a hog let the dogs out then you get out and shoot it when you get a clear shot, damn thing is just standing by these correls does not move just standing then the dogs start chasing it around so I get out my 270 and close the distance from 100 yards to 50 and dead pig, this is my first guided pig hunt on private property that i've ever on, but i'm thinking it can't be this easy drive over throw it in the back of the truck and off we go I have been hunting a total of 15min, something to watch them muts chase the poor pig around like it was diner, later I find out after gutting that was din din.

5 min and were back at the lap of luxury, i'm not there 15min and my brothers back with a pig, the boys leave and say the place is yours for the weekend, hunt all you want have fun if you see another pig take it on the house, just lock the gate on the way out, well my brother and I start talking and we both come to the same conclusion canned hunt, we say hey we came here to hunt and camp out lets do it at least until tomorrow, we get up at 0 dark 30 next morning hunt all morning not one pig, not any thing that looks like pigs no rooting nothing but ground squirrels, we decide to go back to where my brother shot his we work up into some brush a couple hundred yards past where he got his we find tire tracks, we find a peice of rope and our only pig tracks of the day along with foot prints.

Well I get back and give a report I have them rolling on the ground at the shop, then some time later DFG is in contact with me over the pig hunt wanting details of it, I heard he lost his License over it and was buying pigs at local auction, and rounding up his pig dogs on the streets of Los Banos
