Well, I just found out that the guy I go hog hunting with raised his prices to $400 for an unguided hunt. I know theres people who have recently went, or has plans to go on some guided hunts coming up real soon. I know Choppers is a $400, but out of all my buddies, i'm the only one who archery hunts. How much are the guided hunts going for? Toss some names, phone numbers and prices if you don't mind. People like Nessen Shmidt, Tom Willougby and any others you can recommend. I want go on a hog hunt, but don't want to pay $400 for an unguided hunt.

Thanks for your help.

Mel,

Here's a list of some guides that I have been with or I have known people to go with that were real happy.

Eldon Bergman (805) 238-5504 Eldon has been guiding in the King City area probably longer than anyone that I know of. One heck of a guy and very good. I think currently he has access to 2 large ranches. $450 or $500. Can't remember if he raised his prices.

Frank Morasci (Mustang Guide Service) (831) 385-5628. I have been with Frank more than any guide in central california. I keep coming back since he has access to about 10 ranches in the King City area. He's good, fair and still one of the cheapest at $400.00

Nessen Schmidt (831) 385-1335. Nessen is a great guide and runs a good operation. I dont know how many ranches he has now. $500.00

Tom Willoughby (831) 385-3003 Tom and Blake know there stuff. They are a father/son team that will work hard to get your pig. They have access to about 12 ranches in the King City area. $450.00

Kyler Hamann (Boaring Experiences) (805) 461-0294 Kyler runs a good operation and has access to some good property up in Parkfield. I hunt a private ranch that butts up to some of Kylers property. He know his stuff and will put you on hogs. I think he's around $500-$600 for a hog.

Don Chamberlin (Boars Canyon) (408) 679-8048 This is one outfit I wanna try. I have heard nothing but good things about his operation. Its outside of Fresno and the ranch I hear is awesome. He's $375.00 for a day and a half hunt.

Hope this helps, there is a lot of guys to choose from and they all do a good job. Goodluck Mel...

Hey Mel,

Don't forget the JHO POR in June! $400 ain't cheap, but it's the going price these days. It'll be fun, and La Cazadora will be more than welcome. Need more lady hunters out there... Mudwalker was kinda lonely last year.

Other than that, $450 is the lowest price I've seen on guided hunts. I'll be looking around at the ISE show this weekend, though.

Speaking of that... anybody going out there on Saturday? I'm heading over at noon, and will probably hang tight 'til they chase me out.

SDHunter,

When did Frank raise his prices to $450? It was $400 for the longest time. Still a great deal in my book.

Thanks for the info guys, i'll start making some calls this weekend. As far as the JHO POR, that may be a possibility as well.

Thanks,

Hoghunter714,
I think just this year, or maybe last year. Inflation has caught up with good 'ol Frank too. And that is his old number. New one is 831-386-9027.

Mel,
Make sure whoever you use for a guide knows you are going to bow hunt. It's a different hunt with a bow and your guide needs to know that's how you will hunt. I have bow hunted and rifle hunted with Frank Moroski many times. He has allways done an excellent job of guiding. (pistol and black powder too) The 831-386-9027 is the right number. Good luck whoever you hunt with!

Actually, I'm doing a rifle hunt, not an archery hunt. If it was an archery hunt it would be easy decision, i'd go to Choppers

Does anyone know if any of the above guide will accept PayPal payment? I would like to make a trip out this year and all my play money are on PayPal.

I went to the ISE show yesterday. It was pretty feeble. The hunting part was even smaller than last year. I went as a social outing with some friends, otherwise, I would have been tremendously bummed.
The Sacramento show, on the other hand, was el mucho excellento por favor !
