I shot this Javelina today. After 3 days of non-stop rain, I was finally able to get out and hunt. Took me 2 hours to find the piggies, then another hour to get in range. The picture sucks because I could not figure out how to set the self-timer on my new digital camera.

I had a hardt time finding anything that would shoot good in this rifle. Ifinally got a good group with 100 grains of 777 and a330 grain DeadCenter bullet.

The shot was about 20 yards.

Nice Jave' Coues,
Should give ya' a fair amount o' chili, spaghetti sauce, breakfast sausage, etc. That place down south you put us on in Jan., was dandy...food and sign aplenty, but that darn rain was our "Albatross"! That's why they call it Huntin' and not Gettin'! Did your boy get one yet?

Nice work Jeff! Any chance he was out of the same herd we were working last month?

I'm on my way to 34A Wednesday night.
We might get lucky and have little rain. Sat and Sun looks good. I'll be scouting all day Thursday with my Bro. Can't wait.
What unit were you hunting in? nice job.

No, it wasn't the same ones we were chasin' in unit 33. I was in unit 37B.

No, my son doesn't hunt Javelina. The hunting season falls right at the same time as high school baseball tryouts and practice.

Great Job. Hey I don't see any mud in that picture? And I know there was mud a plenty where I was.

Did you see any Russ? Or did you get rained out? Where I was at didn't seem to get as much rain as other places.

We were able to hunt Monday, Tuesday it started raining so my brother went home (He didn't have any rain gear). I stayed and hunted until I was covered in mud. It was messy when we got there and just got worse as it rained.
We saw one pig. After hunting all day we
headed back to the truck parked at the fork in the road. And we spotted a pig just heading over the top of the hill on the north side just next to the highway. The tracks went right past the gate.
Go figure should have hunted next to the highway. I went up the hill after it,when I got to the top it was gone. There was lots of sign, I know they were there I just couldn't find em.

Looks like a great place thanks again for the info. I especially like the river running behind the camp area.

And thanks for who ever left the firecracker wood at the camp area. I think I burned a whole in my shirt.
