Please read the instructions at the top of the the original Ham Slam post BEFORE contacting me for applications. If your questions are still not answered, THEN contact me and I'll be glad to try to help.
If you tell someone else about this hunt, please make sure they come here and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before requesting applications.
I don't mind helping, and giving information. I love to talk about hunting and plan hunting trips. But I have other things to deal with too, and to be honest, it's a little frustrating to keep saying the same things over and over.
I don't want this to come across wrong. Really. And this isn't necessarily directed at any individual member... so I hope no one takes this personally.
So here, I'll say a few things once more. Maybe this will be enough.
IF YOU WANT AN APP- SEND ME AN EMAIL CONTAINING YOUR MAILING ADDRESS.
Do not PM me. Do not request your app here on the forum. I will either lose the PM, or overlook the post. An email gives me a record in my mailbox that I can refer to when I'm preparing to mail out a batch of applications.
I will not fax and cannot email the packet. It's several pages long, and it is hard copy, not an electronic file. Maybe in the future this will change, but for now, this is how it works.
And as I've said way too many times. If you're not sure you can go, PLEASE DON'T REQUEST AN APPLICATION. Holding an application does NOT save you a spot. There are 50 spaces available, and they will be assigned to the first 50 PAID AND PROPERLY COMPLETED applications I receive.
I WILL SEND ONE (1) APP PER PACKET.
If you have a group of hunters, that's fine. When you receive your packet, make copies for everyone in your group, make sure they all read and agree to the rules, and make sure they have completed the app and enclosed the proper information.
ENCLOSURE SHOULD INCLUDE:
Check for $300 MADE OUT TO TEJON RANCH. If it's made out to me, then I thank you for the donation. It'll go to good use. But it won't get you enrolled in the Ham Slam.
One Pig Tag, completely filled out (except harvest data, of course). Don't tear off the end of the tag. Send the WHOLE TAG.
Proof of insurance for EACH VEHICLE COMING ONTO THE PROPERTY.
DON'T FORGET TO SEND $13 to BOB BOGGS INSURANCE. Do not send that to me. If you do, you will not be insured, and your application will be rejected by Tejon Ranch.
APPLICATION PACKETS GO OUT IN BATCHES, NOT ONE AT A TIME
If you request an app by sending me an email with your mailing address, I will add you to the list, and usually I will confirm that I got your request. However, I am not sending these out the second I receive your request. I wait until I have several apps, and then do them in a batch.
Why? Because it is easier for me than trying to keep up with this on a haphazard basis. I don't have a more practical reason. Just that it makes my life easier.
I'm not getting paid for this. I'm not getting a free or discounted hunt. I'm doing it because I enjoyed having so many JHO members in camp last year, and thought it would be fun to have a JHO -only hunt... hopefully on an annual basis. Tejon said, "go for it, but organize and run it yourselves."
To paraphrase F. Gump..."And that's all I want to say about that."
