Went to the range the other weekend only to find that it was closed. Did some research and learned that it had burned down. The county is still working out the details with the insurance company; no telling when work will begin on rebuilding.
From the Carroll County website:
HAP BAKER FIREARMS FACILITY UPDATE
The Hap Baker Firearms Facility experienced a fire on Friday, February 9, 2007. While
the pistol range remained relatively unscathed, there was significant damage to the rifle
range and facility offices. The facility is currently closed.
We hope to reopen the pistol range as soon as possible.
We are currently assessing all damage and losses and working with our insurance carrier.
We have every intention of rebuilding the rifle range and will be working to get that
completed and reopened as soon as possible.
We will be working with this year’s 264 season pass holders to provide some kind of
credit for the time period in which the range remains closed.
