Has anyone booked and/or been out to the VanHorn's place yet?
If so, how was the experience?
I Saw a whole lot of views to the info but was just curious as to how things went.

F350,

I'm assuming your talking about "Gloria & Martin Vanhorn" in Parkfield. The last time I was there was about 4 years ago. We had a group of 4 and at that time she charged $175.00 per person. It was well worth the money for what you got. At that time she had the main ranch and another smaller piece of property a few miles away. We didnt see any hogs all weekend, but tons of sign. There was another group that was hunting the smaller property and that guy got a nice size sow. I have kept in contact with her over the years and I know she has raised her prices to $300.00. IMO its still a pretty good deal. Its not guided by no means and you really gotta work your tail off. They will point you in the right direction but from that point on your on your own. I would suggest that you take a 4x4 vehicle cause its a hell of a hike to hike over the main ridge to get to the huntin area. It truely is a REAL hunt. Gloria and Martin are WONDERFUL people and if you go make sure you invite them to dinner. Martin has some GREAT stories to tell around the dinner table. Hope this helps..

Hoghunter714,
I've been a regular there myself and have given a bunch of the JHO guys the #. I was just wondering how things were up there. My last trip was about 4 wks ago.

We saw about thirty or so Hogs but only one guy bagged one.
Still a great hunt though.

Thanks for the reply.

Please don't bump topics to the top of the page. If there's interest in the subject, the posts will keep it at the top. 700 people looked at it and saw no need to post, so we'll leave it at that.

Now, I'm speaking for myself here.

I was little turned off by your last post about that place (The double booking/Trespassing thing???). The price is right, But something just does'nt sound right there. I don't know, Until I hear more reports (1/2 Dozen or so) I will not be calling. There are MANY MANY places to hog hunt between King City and SLO that you don't have to worry about situation's like that.

Bishop,
Wasn't done to manipulate the board. I just figured a lot of the guys may have been away and was looking for feedback. Sorry if that was the wrong thing to do and I won't feel at all offended if you feel the post should be deleted.
Thanks.

F350:

It's no big deal. Jesse allows members to post about guides and businesses they've had a good or bad experience with, as long as they are not connected with the service/business.
I'm not saying you have a business connection to these people. I'm assuming you don't, but when people post several times and bump the topics to the top it sort of gives the members a "spam" feeling.
Of course feel free to respond to any members questions about this. But, if they want to know more, they'll ask.
Short of anything commercial, obscene, or totally inappropriate, we try not to delete any posts. You got no worries there, all your post have been friendly, helpful, and interesting.
