I've turned down that shot with my bow many times,I'll take it with my .338 though, that's a very small kill area the boy was lucky

Wonder what state he was in with the lit nock.

I'd take that shot with the right broadhead.

I've shot deer and pigs with that shot and it drops them pretty quick. Wouldn't suggest it with someone pulling back low pounds but it is very effective. Pretty tough to miss the vitals.

He was pulling back 70lbs. Not bad for a 13 year old.

That looks like the areas in CO that I have hunted. Nice video. What a life defining moment. That kid will be in the woods for years to come now.

An excellent shot and result. Incredible the dichotomy of the emotions I feel watching that video. That is the sort of thing that dreams are made of, yet I feel very much for the animal as his life flows from his chest. However, there is no disputing that this was a quick, clean, perhaps even near painless kill.

Congratulations to the young man.

I know nothing about bows. sorry for the dumb question. It looks like the arrow is stuck in the elk but the blood flows out. Is the arrow hollow or how dose it bleed out so fast? again sorry if that's a silly question.

I shot this elk at just under 20 yards about two years ago in colorado. He ran 10 yards and died within 2 minutes. There was no blood at all. But when I opened him up it was a never ending sea of blood. Shot him directly front on and my nock was complete buried in his chest. Easily 30" of penetration. Went in top of heart, got a piece of one lung and hit everything else through his stomach. 125 grain Magnus buzz cut. The first pic of elk is where he piled up. As you can see, no blood. But I will say, craziest death cry I ever heard when he was expiring. Deadly shot if you are confident.

Not a dumb question. As you may already know, the bowhunters use broad heads with anywhere from 2 to 4 cutting surfaces, so the the cut is much larger than the diameter of the shaft. Most states require that broad heads be sufficiently large enough so that they can not pass through a hole that is less than 7/8".

That is a clean heart shot, yes a very small target. Fro 13 , he sure was calm and collected.

Hope it wasn't CO, they don't allow lit knocks(neither does MT).

That was an incredible shot.
I think if you lobbed his head clean off he would have had the exact same reaction.
The bull just froze, twitched his ear, and dropped.
Very clean.
