I did not even put in for NM this year with the short season and low odds Colorado is a better bet this year for me over the counter arch. tag is a month long and I need to kill elk this year. I did buy Valles Caldera raffle

Hate that feeling sancho, I drew a blank last year in Arizona. This year it's Arizona, August, antlerless, archery in unit 1. woooohoooo!

I skunked on antelope and elk. Same with another buddy. The third guy in our group drew an elk tag for unit 51 though so at least I'll get to tag along and hopefully pack out some meat.

On the upside I took all the money I got back and bought a puppy

the OTC in AZ for deer, OTC for idaho elk. (both archery)

and i got an invite to Amarillo texas for spot/stalk..big arse Mulies!!! gotta check non-res pricing for texas before i get too excited about it.

Over the counter Idaho elk? What part of Idaho? I am very interested in getting out there with my daughter, I'm a meat hunter so antlerless is okay with me.

i was near central idaho.

we went last year. BRUTAL hunting. lots of turned over trees you will need to climb over. we didnt see many elk. one actually. one bull in eight days of hunting. that one bull in the last 8 minutes of light on our last day. we killed it. we were there Sept 10th on day one, and it felt early. bulls were quiet.

the best thing about idaho? free camping during the season. real campsites with toilets. nobody there. you get a site to yourself.

we are gonna try OTC colorado this year. my brother's best friend is hopefully giving us some intel.
