I was out checking my trailcams yesterday and had my sony in a camo bag around my shoulder. i was standing in a shallow creek getting my trailcam ready to go and had to kneel down to work it. then i noticed my camo bag was partially submerged in the creek. of course my sony was at the bottom of the bag. now it wont power up. when a digital gets wet what usually goes bad? Could it still work after it dries out? it really didn't get that wet. i thought just the outside of the camera did. anybody know?

Water usually doesn't ruin electronics by itself, until pwer is added. I would try taking it apart and letting it dry out completely and then put it back together and power it back up. It might not work, but it's worth a try.

i did get it going by letting it dry awhile, then put new batteries in and it works. although the monitor screen seems to want to go out for a few seconds at a time. i noticed it had a reset button on it. i was ready to do that if i needed to. thx for the advice bandit.

As long as it dries out before you hit power you should be fine....if you try to power up and it's wet...odds are you'll short something out.

I saw something a year or two ago about someone who had a digital camera get soaked. After he dried it out, it does wierd things to the pictures. Now he supplements his income selling his pictures.

I hope yours comes out ok.

yeah kc, I read the same article about that camera. The pics looked very psycadelic.. He went through some huge ordeal to dry it out too.. like mounting it on the hood of his car and driving it for a few days trying to dry it and such.. wish I could find the article, the cam produced some really twisted pics..
