This guy is senator for an area that has pretty much 0 hunting, "Carson, El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Torrance, as well as portions of Long Beach, Los Angeles and San Pedro. ". So who is he to say what happens outside of the area he represents. Don't you think he should be more concerned with what affects his local area? I do... When was the last time dogs were run through El Segundo in search of a bear? 150 years maybe, if ever?

California's bear population has exploded in the last few years despite the houndsman. Hounds or not the harvest for bear is still one per hunter per season or until the quota is filled. Many houndsman don't kill bears at all. It's a "tree and release" sport. The same principal as "catch and release bass fishing". This kind of hunting has contributed to the increase of the bear population in California. Some say that the use of hounds is unethical, unsportsmanlike and wrong. I believe the use of hounds, especially when used in a "tree and release" method is not only the future of hunting but the definition of hunting conservation.

This bill is sponsored by the HSUS (humane society). This organization admittedly is against ALL hunting. Wether you agree with the use of hounds or not, this bill isn't about hounds. It's about ENDING HUNTING all together by systematically taking our hunting rights piece by piece. The method they are using is simple. Mislead the public and make the hunting community devide so the animal rights community can conquer.
