Jake Laws of the Windansea Board Fishing Tournament called to see if he and others from the annual beach event could do anything for Capt. Mike Diamond of the Champ.
Diamond has been a regular contributor of trips to the annual surfboard fishing contest, and the fishermen want to return the favor. The Champ went aground off Baja last week, and the boat is a total loss.
Diamond is trying to get another boat, but in the meantime he said his engineer, Steve Jacobelly, lost all his work clothes and other clothes that he had stored on the boat. Gift certificates and any donations would be appreciated, Diamond said. For information, phone (619) 261-1628.
