Henderson named AGFC director
LITTLE ROCK - Commissioners from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission today appointed Scott Henderson as the agency’s new director. Henderson replaces Hugh Durham who resigned on Monday.
Henderson has worked for the AGFC since 1972. He is presently the agency’s assistant director and has been in that position since 1987.
Commission chairman Jim Hinkle said the selection of Henderson was an easy task. “He’s a good fit for this organization. We didn’t have to travel far to find the best person for this job,” Hinkle said. Henderson takes over the reins of the 540-person agency today.
Scott Henderson biographical information:
Born in Newport, Ark. in 1948.
1970 graduate of Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology.
1970-72: Taught high school chemistry and biology in Melbourne, Fla.
1972 - Began career with the AGFC as a fish truck driver at the Joe Hogan State Fish Hatchery in Lonoke.
Has served as a fisheries research biologist, assistant chief of fisheries, chief of fisheries and was promoted in 1987 to assistant director.
Married to the former Cathy Crow of Rector. They have two children: Mark and Karen.
