First let me say it was great once again meeting more JHO guys, Its always been a great hunt and I always look forward to hunting with the JHO gang!

Here's my story,
We all met at the visitors center, did the meet and greet and off to the ranch we go. After setting up camp, we hung out for a while to let the heat die down a little (it was hot!) then headed out about 3:30pm or so. I took Pro953, juantg and ruger mac with me to the "Spot"

We get to a vantage point and discuss the evening and morning hunt plans. Pro953 and I headed down the road and ruger mac and juantg took the high road. After about 15 min, Pro953 spotted some hogs and the ridge across from us, we made over to where they were, range was 250 yards and they were slightly moving. We both shot but clean miss.

Came back to camp, and then a few others rolled in (not JHO guys) and this is what they had in the back of their truck, a real nice 225# boar with 2" tooth, he only had one the other was broke off.

This ended day 1.....

Day 2,
Pro953 and I headed back to where we had shots the day before, made it back there about 8:30am, then again, Pro953 spotted more hogs just down in the draw. We made our way to a better shooting position, ranged them at 172 yards straight down hill. Took the shot and a nice sow dropped, she was about 150#.

A lot more happened but Pro953 was involved so I don't want to spoil his story, I'll let him post his up as well as the others.

Here ya go.

Well i came home empty handed but i had a great time! I believe our entire group saw over a 100 pigs over the weekend!! we had some big ones this time too. I screwed up a perfect chance at a BIG hog on the last morning. I was heading back down to be picked when i came across a hog feeding about 80yds. took a rushed uphill shot and missed. look forward to next year.

I just got finished boning out the hog, ended up with 53# of boned out meat. I think she was a little bigger then I thought.

Adam,
Great hunting with you again, we have to hook up for some Pheasants.

thanks for the story and photo's Mel, congrats on slammin a hog! hope to share another hunt with ya someday.
Jauntg, cant wait to hear your story, at the cooley ranch those hills are no joke to hunt all day if your carrying to much gear and dont have the right hunting boots thats for sure, u will pay the price if u ain't prepared right for that hunt, i think its more phyiscal and challenging for a bowhunter there then a gunner, u gotta do a lot more leg work to get up close and personal for those hogs for the shot, its all hills and valleys thats for sure. have a great day!...tra

Came back to camp, and then a few others rolled in (not JHO guys)
Does that mean your group was mixed in with another group?

Nice one Juantg. Was that Sunday morning? I left around 10:30 and you weren't back yet. Did you get your knife back from George? Good looking out letting me borrow that. Unfortuanately I didn't need it. Great trip though.

If you're talking about Danner prong horns. I have them and loves those boots. If I get blisters its because I had the boots to loose. you have to snuggem up. Ive stalk bear, deer, hogs, antelope and elk. Danner boots are great just like everything you gotta wear them right or use them correctly. I'm glad you guys had a great time.

just got home my spelling got a little crazy tried to spell at work on phone and could not see the little letters sorry about that. Danner pronghorns and the swarovski, and the number one piece of gear is a lot of REDBULLS. did not see anything fri night got up sat morning mel and phil went one way and me and adam went another. me and adam start out and spot two big hogs heading up the mountain and we try to come around them and adam goes on one side of the hill and go straight up the mountain and i go up super slow so i wouldn't make a noise, i get to the top catch up on my breath and sit down for a min and i got up to check things out and there were beds everywhere and stepped on a branch and a big hog stood up about 20 feet in front of me and i pulled up to shot and looked in my scope and heard some loud grunts right behind me so i lift up my rifle and turn around and catch hogs running and al of a sudden hogs start getting up and they r everywhere running around around 25 of them i pull up and was going to shoot but i was way to close i chase them around and catch some heading down i sit down to catch my breath and see the running in the brush and wait for them to get in the open and i shot at one and missed. about 20 min latter mel calls and says they got two pigs down and so i go get mels suv and go pick them up and help phil drag his pig up, they drop me off on top the road to keep hunting and didnt see any more pigs until that evening they were about 300 yds so i start to put the stalk on them and turned out like dookie. so sun morning mel drops me off and i make my way down the hill and one pig jumps out on the road and i go to shot and my safety was on i take it off and the pig was running like hell i passed up the shot i make my way up the hill and spot 12 hogs feeding about 200yd and i start to stalk them as i get about 100yds they go over the ridge. i start to climb back up the mountain were the pigs were bedded down and get half way and i am beat the hunt is almost over and i sit down and start thinking about things like what i did or didn't do like should i have shot that pig at 20 feet away with my rifle that close but thought i was going to destroy it. and i cant stop tying to see how close to get to them so i say next time i will shot if they far and next thing i spot 10 hogs about 150yd heading up the hill to bed and everything changes i start to stalk them again and i lose them in the trees so i go back to were i was and was going wait about 30 mins and sneak to the top and shoot one in the beds and 10mins latter 12 hogs come up the hill to bed down and they were about 200yd and i stalked them to about 70yds and fired my 270wsm off and the hog went down it started to move around a lot and fired one more off and that was it when i called mel up he was more exited then me before i seen those pigs i was so tried and was thinking about just calling it a day but decided to go to the end and it paid off. mel came and helped me drag it out of the canyon and it was over. George worked his butt off he is one hard worker he would show up at 530am and would not leave till around 10 11 pm and made r hunt great.
