Hey Rod Chainey, and myself are thinking of seting up a guided pig hunt on private land. Roy Gatlin, has offered to donate this hunt to HHH as a fund raiser. Trophy fees are  waivered. He is  fully bonded, licensed, & insured.  He may also do a elk, muley or blacktail hunt for us. In any case would any of you be interested in this pig hunt ??? I'd like to see if there is an intrest be for we get this started...  Thanks

Keep talkin', Sporty!

If the price is right and the distance isn't too bad...  might be up for it.

We are still in the set up stages but we are thinking some where around 25 a ticket. If that is to much let me know..  I think it will be around   some where around the town of Williams.. As I understand it Rod knows the area very well and there are lots of pigs.

$25 a ticket? Is it a raffle for a hunt? Or is it a hunt? Please explain all of the details as Speck was saying, I think that some of us may be interested.  Also, where is the town of Williams?

The 25 would be for a ticket.. The price is not set as yet. I'm just doing a fact finding survey to find out if this will be accepted be for we do it. The hunt is no problem. That we can do..  This is a fund rasier for Hunter Helping Hunters the ticket price will be tax deductable.. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.. If this go well. We may do an elk hunt .. With the same outfitter.. I personal do not know him but he is a good friend of Rods, and I'd trust that man any where any time !!

Williams, is near Clear Lake on the east side right off interstate 5.. As I understand it the winner will be hunting a 15,000 acre ranch..

Sporty:

How is the guide connecting with an elk tag in California?

Sounds like your saying this is a raffle with tickets at $25. All money goes to HHH.  The guide is donating some or all of the costs. It's a great charity. Something all of us hunters should consider donating to.  I don't think you would have any problem selling 50 tickets, maybe a few hundred, through this and other forums. If the guide charges a few hundred, you are still way ahead of the game.

I would suggest that you provide some success rates and more information on the property. Number of days, guaranteed shots at hogs, accomodations, etc.  Photos of hogs, deer, and.....elk would be nice. The more info you give us the better reaction you will receive from this great bunch of hunters.

From a purely practical perspective, at $25 a ticket, you'd probably generate more interest by seriously limiting the number of tickets... say to 25 or 50, tops.  Speaking at least for myself, for $25 I want at least 1 in 50 odds of winning (I'd love to come off sounding more charitable and less concerned with my own return, but I'm not a wealthy man).  If you want to sell a large number of tickets, I'd lower the price accordingly.

Since an elk hunt has a much higher value, and someone's gonna have to pay for the permit anyway, I can see a higher price with lower odds.  I think a lot of it has to do with perceived value.

Keep it going, and let's hear what you come up with.

sounds great.  Only "when" is the problem.  I would be game if I am not going scouting up in x9b.

I'm calling Rod tonight to start setting things up. 25 dollars is only what I'm throwing out there it may be lower but not higher.. We have not set an amount of tickets to sell yet. The guide service as I understand it is totaly free.. If and when we do an elk it will be in Oregon. The only fee That has been memtioned is 277 dollars for the out of state tag. I am thinking of talking to Rod about HHH picking that up.. Mr. Gatlin will do the hunts at our convenance as I've been told.. We may also pick up the tag fee on the Milk River whitetail hunt (archery). Dustin and I were bouncing it around last week. We are looking at Oct to start and DEC 24 draw for winner..

Ok Guys, I called Rod last night . My phone bill OH BOY !! :) Roy Gatlin's Guide service is listed on the CA. dfg web site. Guide # 3278 I haven't checked it out yet. Looks like the tickets will be 25 dollars. with two winners. We feel the hunt dates should be left open so as who ever wins can do their hunt when the time is best for them.. That is fine with Roy. As this will be on a private ranch that is not set up with a hunting lodge I can not say much about accomadations. That is something Rod will have to address. As he is the only person with unlimited access to this ranch. He has taken a few fellow NAHC members there and they had a great time. In the future we will be doing pig hunts for HHH members at no charge. groups of 5 or 6 at a time. This will include guide service. All it takes to be come a member is a donation to HHH.  don't know how many ticket we will be able to have as yet. I'm working on that..
