You didn't suggest anything, you gave inaccurate advice based on limited experience. You spoke in absolutes like some sort of superior authority on the subject. You countered what I said, and offered nothing positive, no options. You're angry because you were wrong.[/b]
You're right and I'm wrong. Please forgive me. I say this with all sincerity, no sarcasm.

Actually, the word "Haole" is covered by the, "Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007", so it would be best to stop using it here on the forum. Jesse probably doesn't know the history of the word, or he would have stepped in early when it was first used.

Actually us Hawaiians are tailgaters extraordinaire, maybe the UH is discouraging the mixing of fans, I dunno. I watched the last UH home game (UH vs Weber State) at home but friends of mine did tailgate pre-game in the parking lot. Not sure if you saw my previous post but I was invited to participate in a Papio fishing tournament in Kaneohe Bay on the 25th-26th so probably will fish that Sunday. Mahalo for the invite.

UH's tailgate party is under a large carnival-sized tent, so the visiting team probably doesn't feel comfortable under the same tent? UH is more economical at $5 compared to the $30 per space over here, but each of our spaces are different. I have a pop-up camper with side awning for tailgating in our space.

The Geological Survey must have been smoking something when they mapped O'ahu, because there are big errors. Saturday before the game I plan to take my GPS out into the field and check some of the corners of the Hunting Areas. Adobe 7 gives me sharp map saves in JPG Files, (the new version Adobe 8 are so bad that I can't use them) The Hawaiian Fish and Game PDF Maps seem to be dead-on and drawn to scale, so I will be able to transfer some of the jungle trails from the Hunting Area Maps onto Google Earth (kml) files. Once I put my foot down on one of those trails and take a reading with my GPS I can shift everything according.

Ha-ole = Without-Breath[/b]

Haole can be used descriptively or as a racially derogatory word.

Ha-ole = Without-Breath[/b]
Haole: Commonly pronounced HOW-lee, this word has come to describe people of European origin. Literally, "one who does not breathe," it was once an epithet, but has lost most of its sting. It's used in polite conversation, usually -- but not always -- without rancor. Still, it's a bit of a shock to see a T-shirt with a picture of a tourist roasting on a spit and the slogan, "Haole: The Other White Meat."

I admit that I have some issues as Uncle Ji put it "haole vs Hawaiian" and it's my problem that I must deal with. However, it isn't because I showed some superiority and had it served back to me. At the time I lived there I had thick black curly hair and a dark tan. I looked Hawaiian, and because of this many Hawaiians would approach me with a smile and brotherly love, until I opened my mouth. I was not one to be phoney and try to talk Da Kine. Suddenly their smiles turned to frowns followed with stink-eye. Also, after only 3 days on a job where only hawaiians were employed, one of the employees to whom I had never even conversed with, brought false accusations against me in an effort to get me fired, and he succeeded in getting me fired.
My brother was working on a constuction site where a local always called him haole, but not in a friendly way. One day my brother told him " my name isn't haole, it's Jeff" and the guy sucker punched him in the jaw. When my brother reported the incident, the foreman said " so what, you are a haole" and then fired my brother for fighting. My brother never threw a punch back.
I could go on with examples but you that live there know that this goes on. I know that the vast majority of locals are friendly, but some are not.
I apologize to you local boys if I offended you in bringing up racial issues. I thought that after all these years I was over it, but apparently I'm not. Pray for me.

Glass eye,

Cheer-Up! You just described small town America. It has nothing to do with your ethnic. That's why most of us live in these large urban areas. You can't expect to hold a job in a small town when you are an outsider.

Hey Uncle,

Was that you who caught a large Bonefish on Saturday at Kualoa Ranch? If not, that guy was your splitting image. Post a picture. We drove up in our rental car just as you were catching it. We continued on to Ahupua'a O Kahana State Park to hike the Nakoa Trail, but there were about ten houses blocking the trail. They had a home made sigh posted with no parking or entry unless visiting one of the houses. Maybe those are the kind of things that Glass eye is talking about? Anyway, San Jose State Football beat U of Hawaii 20 to 17. Glad we went!
