Back in Iran my grandfather used to go the fruit growers and buy all the rotten fruit that wasn't sold in the market (sometimes free). He has always gotten good results from using it. Just my

fishingsetx... We have tried a number of different things to attract them. Of course works really well, but soured oats work well to.. We also dig a hole to put them in or find a small wallow and dump them in there.. Also, we have taken corn and soaked it in diesel and used that before as well... Hogs are the only thing that will eat it.. The deer and coons will not touch it.. I wonder if that Hog Wild stuff works that I have seen at Bass Pro Shops???

I’ve had great luck using cracked corn. I place about 20-30lbs in a large pot. Bring it to a boil for about 10 minutes. I let it soak and cool over night. I poor it into a 5 gallon bucket, add a 5 lb of sugar, a six pack of cheep beer, and a couple scoops of brewers yeast. Stir it all up, and then duct tape a screen over the top to keep the birds out. I then dig a hole and place the bucket inside the ground so that the top is at ground level. I then place the trap over the bucket making sure the trigger mechanism is above the bucket. I'll throw another screen over the area and pile dirt over the trap floor, and allot of old produce. After that, it time for the piggies! (Make sure you secure the trap to the ground)

Fish Carcases. Yep stinky, nasty, rotten fish hanging from a couple trees has always worked for me and mine. I try to save em up in the freezer. I'v tried digging and all that. I think the scent is better cast from spreading them out in trees. They come faster. They hunt for the source and that keeps them around for a while. I've watched them walk into the scent, loose it, and circle back again and again trying to find it.

Corn feeder that feeds daily is better than any of that other stuff for keeping hogs coming to bait as a routine. Fill it up, turn it on and it takes care of the rest. If you feed any of those other concoctions, when the food is gone the hogs won't be back until you refresh the bait.

Coondog.....

That Hog Wild stuff does not work. Been there done that. But they got my money once so good for them. As for attracting hogs I have never had any luck. Concoction after concoction and no attraction. It seems that if you do not have hogs you just do not have them. If you do just try to rid yourself of them. Fat Chance. If you do not have them yet just wait you will.

WREPOST... Thanks for the info.. I have always been leary of that stuff.. You are correct that you must have hogs around for this stuff to work.. The only reason that I bait them out is because I know they are there and I am trying to corral them into a certain location to harvest them.. We have them all over the hillsides, but it is way too thick to hunt them in there....

Hey Bolt_Sniper,

Of course you have good luck with that, you are turning them into alcoholics!!! After you get done catching the hogs, all you need is a still, and you can make moonshine!!!

Critergeter,

My buddy does that here. He goes down to the local fish market and they give him all the catfish guts he wants. He just dumps them in a hole about twice a week to get the hogs coming to the area. He also sets up an automatic feeder and uses it to keep them there.

Barrel74,

I imagine walnuts work, but here they are EXPENSIVE!!

WREPOST, i have to disagree. I started 2 feeders last summer and had light hog traffic to both feeders. 3 months later i started using Hog Wild and the traffic has trippled. There are 3 foot wide paths coming to the feeders. It has to be doing something!
BTW i'm hunting in Northern and Eastern South Carolina

I have to agree also with the use of 'Hog Wild", but you also have to have hogs in the area and you also have to keep the feed coming on a regular schedule. I'll find they lying down under my feeder waiting for it to go off. I have dirt highways coming into my feeder.
