That's crazy! I wonder if it found the fawn dead or killed it?

I don't think this picture alone proves that pigs kill fawns because that fawn could have been dead before the pig got it, but I wouldn't be too surprised if a pig killed a fawn. Just another good reason to hunt them around here. I've heard of trappers having success from using venison or deer carcasses to bait their hog traps when other baits aren't working.

About 4 yrs ago on tejon ranch, I came across a giant breeder bull dead caught up in barb wire fence, a week later it was devoured... Nothing but hog tracks surround carcass in mud!!!!! That's a 2000lb + animal...

Nothing new here, wild hogs have always been omnivores. The question here is: did the pig kill the fawn...? Most likely, no. In my experience, hogs eating meat is mostly carrion, except for the occassional frog, lizard or worm. They're just not that well equipped to take down prey - but they sure can eat 'em.

I have always wondered that. A place where I pig hunt a few where shot and their capes and feet were thrown in a river bed. Didnt take long for those piggies to be consumed.

Hogs are omnivores. Anything and everything is fair game to them.

Hogs are opportunistic and will kill/eat when the opportunity presents itself. This guy was on a steady diet of pigs.

^^^ Was that a canned hunt...? Doesn't look wild to me. Very few pigs in the entire world will get that big, and have floppy ears and a wrinkled short snout, in the wild. Either way, that's a lot of pork.

Yep...and he was killing other hogs on the ranch. I guess he wasn't into corn. He was pure pock, no byproducts. Check out the 8" ivory.
