Well I've been gone for a while and wanted to share the experience that I had in Central Texas around Gonzalez. My dad and I drove all the way to Texas to pig hunt sounds funny I know. Hear is why we went, for $300 dollars or $100 a day, you could kill 2 pigs each, As many varmits as you wanted, and numerous coyotes. We killed all of them. I wish all the money hungery land owners in California would offer the Texas hospitality. One pig in California is $375 and usually a kill fee. ANy way back to the hunt, My brother flew into San Antonio and we picked him up and drove into Gonzalez. My Bro took a nice 275+ boar on the first evening hunt where we kind of drove the fields and tree lines to get them up and moving in the heat. That night tried to spot hunt, only preditors then. Took a few coyotes. Next morning walked the swamp lands on 300 acres saw a ton of pigs(30) but no chance to shoot too thick. Later that evening I spot hunted again and dropped on 130lbs. sow. Saw about 20 but no other shots. Next Morning at first light Dad dropped a roaster pig about 50 lbs. and so did I. We were going to stay over another night and I am sure Dad and Bro would have gotten another pig, but we had to get my Bro to the airport. So 4 pigs total. Packed them in dry ice and headed home. SO think of this $300 got us a nice bunk house for 3 days, they provided all the food and drinks, they cooked breakfast and dinner drove us around the ranch had some one to help skin if we needed, even pakage all of the pigs up for only 30 bucks. NO way in hell you can find that here in California for something like that you are talking $800-1500. Really enjoyed the trip. I want to thank to all the Texans we met out there, Larry, First Sarg. Terry the boys, etc. Wish I could tell you the name of the ranch but I forgot and my dad was the one that set this hunt up. I will try to get the info from him and share. Enjoy
