I've been to Chopper's ranch twice, and had multiple shots on hogs. Chopper knows this ranch like the back of his hand and knows where the hogs are and where they are traveling to and from. Chopper is a heck of a guy and will work hard to get you on the hogs. He was right there helping me on the skinning when I shot one. So dont think he wont give you a hand. If you dont connect it will be more likely your fault than his. Good luck and good hunting!!!

I've been on chopper's ranch 3 times. I've driving all the way from Springfield Oregon, which is 11 hours from door step to door step. In the three trips that we have been there we have taken a total of dozen or so hogs.

I highly recommend this hunt, also for you turkey hunters, there is abundance of long beards on the ranch. As well as some really nice blacktail deer. Well worth the drive for me, and you can't beat the price.

OK...........So far it is Orso and Me.

There is still time to get your deposit in. Send me a pm and I'll send you my address. From the reports of other hunters who have been there, it sounds like we are in for a great time!!

Make sure you take some good photos.

The camera man should be low on the ground shooting upwards toward the subject. If using a variable lens, get close and widen the lens.
You should have some good times. Shoot straight. Good Luck !!!!

Dave,

I may be out of the JHO Ham Slam due to a wedding that weekend. If I can't make the ham slam, I'll make this one but I can't do both ($$$$). I"ll know in about a week. Plus my hernia will just be healed up enough to get out and chase some critters again :)

Hey BDB,

Didn't you make a selfbow? I believe I met you at the Camp Roberts Archery hunt last July. If that was you, I thought I remembered that you made a longbow. Was that you? What plans did you work from? Was this a board bow?

Orso,

That was bigbubbadaddy who made the long bow. BDB was shooting an Onieda.

BDB, it would be great if you could come to Chopper's with us.

I just left Pete (BigBubbyDaddy) a voice mail to see if he is interested also. Yeah, I would love to come. I'm also trying to pick up a new bow in the next few weeks, it would be nice to have it and be set with it for this hunt if I go. I'll know about the hunt within 2 weeks. The price is great especially for 2 hogs (chance at) and accomodations.

Bighorn67,

Get 8 guys and I'll drop the price to $375 apiece. That's $75 off the regular price.

I wish !!!! Just had drinks with my bud tonight and the wedding is on so I am officially out for the ham slam. I have to say though I am very bummed about it in one way. I was looking forward to meeting more JHO'ers. I kinda had my heart set on making both trips also. Oh well a new bow and this trip will have to work instead. I have to get up at 6:30 am to watch my auction.

Hey Bigtusker thanks for the incentive.

Glad to hear you can make it Steve. It'll be good to see you again.

C'mon hunters! $375 is an awesome price for this hunt. I have going so far including me. Surely there are 4 more of you out there who want a great archery pig hunt for $375! Let's hear from you.

I want to emphasise that this is an archery only hunt. Those of you who hunt with a bow exclusively should give this some thought. It is an alternative to the Tejon archery hunts and you get to shoot two hogs. The max is 8 people. If we get 8 the price drops to $375 per person.

I am so disappointed. I just found out I have to be in SF for a whole week for a wedding March 27-April 4. Wedding being on April 3rd. I see the info about your hunt. I am really bummed that I am coming a week later. I could have made the March 27-28 weekend. If you happen to change weekends let me know.

I have just started my research to find a place to hunt for a few days. If any of you know of a good guide in this prices range in the Santa Cruz mountain area or possible the monetery area let me know.

Dave,

Check is in todays outgoing mail to the address to PM'd me. I am psyched, it sounds like an awesome hunt and really want to work on my stalking. So far with my two pigs only one had any stalk involved. The other was a walk over the crest of a hill and pop the pig 80 yards away with '06 kinda deal.

I am trying to work a deal right now on a new bow but they pulled a little bait and switch on me. Hopefully I get the bow I want at the price they quoted me originally.

So it looks like 5 for sure right now.
Bighorn67 - Orso - Spectr17 - Speckmisser - BDB

Still have room for 3 more.

You will be archery hunting for hogs on 4000 private acres. The chance at 2 hogs including accomodations. The regular price on this hunt is $450 per person. The special price for this hunt only is $400 apiece and if 3 more hunters join in, then the price will be only $375 per person. Arrive at the ranch by noon on Friday and hunt till dark on Sunday. If I can find a pic of the cabin, I'll try to post it later.
