I want to say a big Thank You to everyone who voted for my Cousin to win this trip. I also want to thank Jesse's forum for the opportunity and Parrey @ www.justforhunting.com for the hunt give away.
WOW is all I have to say, what a weekend and a Hunt. A memory of a lifetime.
We left on Friday morning to make the 5+ hour trip north, arrived about 4pm, so I called Parrey. He said him and his other Guide would pick us up at the hotel @0600 on Saturday and get going. Just as Parrey said, 0600 and here he comes with his partner Dave. It was about a 30min drive to the ranch where we're going to hunt, so off we went. On the way into the ranch we saw a group of Wild Turkeys. Really cool to see the big birds gobbling out in the open field. Upon arrival at the ranch, Parrey and Dave unloaded the Rihno's and we all loaded up. I want to say, this was not just any group to accommodate, my Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and I all went along. So 7 guys on two Rhinos is not an easy task,
Parrey said we will make it work though, and off we go. We started off on the west side of the ranch where Parrey had been seeing hogs crossing from an eating and watering area to a bedding area, no hogs were seen, however alot of sign and 4 nice bucks were spotted by my cousin and Parrey. After checking a few other areas we decided to re-group, and went back to the trucks to pickup some water and snacks. Parrey says, lets go check over on the east side of the ranch, wow was it torn up, sign everywhere. We drove over to the edge of a Canyon and looked down into the bottom Parrey and Dave saw a group of hogs, and the chase was on, we tried to get around in front of them, however they put the move on us and were gone. We kept on the search however, and after looking for another hour or so Parrey found a group of hogs bedded down in a thicket on a hillside, he called on the radio to let my Cousin know where to get into position, so my Cousin, Uncle and Dave headed that way.
I waited with excitement hoping things would happen for my Cousin, after about 30 minutes or so I heard a shot. I waited for the return of one of one of them, nothing. I waited for about 30 more minutes and then heard another shot, wondering what happen I sat with excitement, finally here comes Parrey and Dave, I ask what happened? He said my Cousin had shot about a 300lb Boar. I was shocked and in disbelief, we jumped on the Rhino's and headed down the hill to get my Cousin, Uncle and the hog. Upon our arrival my cousin had a great big smile on his face and he says, Cuz I just shot the biggest hog I had ever seen in my life, which made me think, that just for a moment/while, he hopefully will and did forget about what he and his family are going thru. What a great thing for him.
I want to tell all of you who may be considering booking a hog hunt. I strongly recommend and encourage you to do it with Parrey@justforhunting.com, after the hog was down Parrey and Dave did all the work, dragging, cleaning, loading, skinning, and quartering, you name it, and they took care of it. They both are as nice as can be and first class guys. I felt they were not going to let us go home or anywhere until we got my cousin his hog.
I again want to say Thank You Parrey for this hunt with my Cousin and family. My Father who is 73, Brother, Uncle and I will remember this trip for the rest of our lives, and I know my Cousin will too.
First pic of my Cousin with his Hog, second is of the hog loaded on the rhino, third is Parrey Dave and us. :toast-yellow:
