[attachment=44265:IMG_0018.jpg]Hello,

My name is Jaime. new here to JHO. Looks like I have found a great place to post some pics and share some storys. Anyways heres a picture of a big pig a shot in Coalinga a few years ago. As luck would have it I was hunting by myself so no one was around to help me carry it out. But luck was on my side. After hiking down into a canyon about 30 minutes before dark and against my better judment I spooked up a real nice big hog and he ran uphill (towards the road) and i was able to shot him once and hit him alittle high, wich was a good thing since he kept running uphill (towards the raod) So after about another 75 yards I was able to pop him again and this time he was 25 yards from that oh so sweet road. Luckly for me I didnt have to drag him far at all but the down side of this is that I also had no one to share this great trophy. At least now I have someplce to share him now. Let me know what you guys think of him.

Welcome aboard, Hogassasen!

That's a real nice hog!

Here's a standard question, but I'll ask it anyway... did you take it on public or private land?

It's on private. Just outside Coalinga. Real tuff hunting thou. Very steep and thick cover so you cant really see that much game, but I know they are their.

Got him from out of that canyon thats straight up coming out of camp the best way i can explain it is to the left of the shooting range. And yes it was taken in 2000 so the pig hunting was alot better back then. As far as Rupe still taking members im not to sure you can never really get a straight answer from him. Are you a current member now? We havent taken a buck yet this year but I have taken a few nice bucks out from that place I will put up some pics sometime. My buddy was up the second weekend and said some other hunter got a small forky by the pond. We didnt see anything but a few does on the opener.

Jaime,
Yes I'm still current member. Theres actually 4 or 5 guys on here that are members.
Theres one guy from jr's camp here too. We've met before we're straight across from you.
You guys were over our camp last year. I was there opening weekend (deer)
I know theres been 6 bucks taken so far. Four were archery bucks.
(Somethings weird) that ranch has never done that before. I could've shot 5 if it was rifle season.
Closest shot I had in archery was 88 yds so did'nt do that one.
I'm holding out for later in the season,I've seen some dandy bucks this year.
I have'nt seen much hog sign lately at all. I know where you shot that hog.
You guys used to do real good over there before.

Wavesfr,

Okay I remembr you now. I think the last time I saw you, your son was with you I beleave. Great to see you here now I dont feel like such an outsider. Here's a pic of another pig I got last year their at the ranch. Does the area look familier? I got him on the last day of the deer season. Do you know how the guys at Jr's are doing? I know our side looked perrty bleek on the opener but again its been like that ever since I've been their always gets better the last 2 weeks of the season. Thats when I have always gotten my deer. But as far as pig sign goes its non exsistant right now unless you go behind the pond were its full of poison oak and its thick and its nasty. My buddy heard a mountain lion in their last week. So its not the first place I would like to go. Ive never been a big fan of that area. I'll post a pic of my buddys pig he got behind the pond here its a real brusier.

Thanks for the welcome Roman Archer, Finding bedding areas is not easy its alot of leg work lots of hiking but normaly the bedding areas are in the steeep, thick, nasty stuff and not to far from where they root so if you find rooting chances are the bedding isnt to far. Just look for the nastyest thickest terrain you can find and if you see a trail follow it alot of times you need to be on your hands and knees but you will find the beds also keep in mind sometimes you might just find yourself face to face with some of these bad boys it has happend to me many a times and normaly they get away. but then you their beds, and they will be back.

This guy was also kicked out of his bed at 2 in the afternoon. Busted him out at less than 5 yards, Luckly he ran the other way and I was able to get a shot on him across the other hillside.
