I wanted to know if there are any good spots to hunt pigs in Northern CA. I would primary like to stick with areas north of, or right around the bay area, all the way north. I am aware of the Dry Creek Preserve, but on a students budget, I have a hard time paying $700 for a pig hunt. If anyone knows any good spots, and would mind sharing, I would be very greatful...

Hi there, I am also a Cal State Student. I'm going pig hunting/scouting this Sunday at the Knoxville Wildlife Area and possibly Cache Creek for pigs. I'll let you know what I see. What school are you going o. I'm stuck here at Cal Maritime in Vallejo.

I am in Chico at school. I am originally from the Bay Area though, so I figured a weekend trip down to hunt wouldn't hurt. Let me know what you find out...

In addition to the ones mentioned, there are areas in the Mendocino national forest, particularly the oak grasslands in the lower elevations.

"Around" the SF Bay, there's BLM land between Hollister and Coalinga (A few JHP folks have laid claim to hogs in the Clear Creek and surrounding areas).

There's also information here about applying for special hog hunts in the Lake Sonoma WA. Do a search here on JHP (I'm too tired to do it for you... just got back from climbing mountains chasing deer... btw, no luck).
