Boar Runner,

First, welcome to the list.  Looks like you have a few posts already, but the handle is new to me.

I believe there are supposed to be some pigs a little south of you, closer to Red Bluff.  Reports vary, though, but maybe some of the other guys from up your way will have better info.

I do know that they seem to be moving more and more up the I-5 corridor, as well as over from the coast.  Humbolt county seems to get a fair share.  Unfortunately, finding pigs on public land, even in places where they're heavily populated, is a real chore.  Good luck, and keep us posted on what you find out.

Welcome to the board boarrunner.  I've heard of some ranches in the red bluff area that you can hunt on but not to sure of the name.  Good luck in your search.  Someone here should have a good answer for your question.

Good question, boarrunner. As has been said here and numerous other threads, the public land scene is pretty tough, and as you probably know there are plenty of hogs in and around Redding, but are on private land.

You might want to ask around about Mendocino National Forest, just south of Redding. There are some NF areas that border ranch property that look sort of "pig friendly" but I haven't personally focused any hog hunting in those areas to confirm any decent populations.

Thanks for the response. I currently live in Santa Cruz county, and have permission to hunt on thousands of hog filled acres, and this took nearly all 29 years of my life to aquire. I recently inherited a small piece of land east of Redding off of 44, and was wanting to build a house there. The only problem is I have some fine hog dogs, and a serious hog hunting addiction. I know how hard it is to get permission to hunt private ranches, especially when you are not known in the area.
I didn't Know of much of a hog population in humboldt county north of fortuna.
How about Trinity county?
Anyone in the Redding area with a hog hunting place willing to trade some hunting
there for some hog hunting in the redwoods of Santa Cruz county?
