I just looked up the License fees. It's $315 for non resident license. Some of the guys I work with are talking about heading out there this year. Luckily we're all Active Duty Marine Corps so we'll pay the $25 resident fee regardless of where we're from or where we're stationed. Now we just need to find a place to hunt and put together the trip. I really like Texas.

Well I think ur figure for a license is off I could b wrong but when I was there a few years ago if ur just wanting to hunt pigs u can get an exotic or mayb it was called a small game license and it was like 125 or so because pigs aren't considered game animals

TX non-resident 5 day hunting license = $45. Include varmints and small games. Hogs are varmints in TX. The $315 is an annual license includes all game animals.

This is what's on Page 25 of the Hunting and Fishing Regulations for 2013.
A ResiDent is a person who has lived continuously in Texas for more than six months immediately before applying for a license. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces (and their dependents) on active duty anywhere
are entitled to purchase a resident license. The term “active duty” means full-time duty in active military
service, including the national Guard and Reserves of the United States. Such term includes full-time
training duty and attendance while in the active military service at a school designated as a service school
by law or by the Secretary of the military department concerned. non-residents under 17 years of age are
designated as residents for hunting license purposes (not valid for Lifetime Licenses).

I also called the main state office to confirm this.

Cost Hog hunts in TX are cheaper than CA. But the travel expense adds up to more than the cost of a local hunt here in CA. If you are looking for a cheaper hunt, stay local. I go there for the experience, not the cheaper price.

Check out broadside boars. They are fair priced for hog/exotics. Plenty of animals to hunt

4.5hr drive to them for$50 more then tejon which is only.5hr from my home...

you gotta figure, $1000+ is a lot to spend for my wife and myself... I'm pretty sure a trip to Texas wouldn't be much more and with no tag/bag limit there I'm sure we could get our monies worth in pork ;)
