If it's not pouring rain, the hogs will likely be out and about. Actually, I've found that most game animals seem to get active in a misting drizzle, but tend to go for cover if it's pouring. The front and back of a frontal system are often great bets to catch movement.
I'm assuming from your handle that you're hunting MO? Not sure the finer points of hunting hogs back east, but I don't imagine they'll act all that different from what we have here in CA.
I have alway thought that it was better immediatly after rain. If it rains overnight check for them in the morning. Last night we had good rains in our area and this evening I was out looking. Spotted a really nice boar that I ended up missing or messing I should say. Thats another story though!
Bottom line is go right after the weather clears. They are usually active and in the feeding mode! Also important is that if you find fresh sign you know your in the right area! Good luck out there
We were out Sat, Sun, and Monday. We found and shot pigs midday on both Sat and Sunday, before the stoms hit. We actually hunted alot harder on Monday, but the strong wind and intermittent strong rain kept everything hidden. On Sat and Sun we saw about 25 deer per day, but nothing on Mon. I am new to pig hunting, but I think the wind has a lot to do with it, because as one of their main senses, if they can't hear due to wind, they are alot more cautious.
Welcome MO,
I agree with what has been posted so far.
IMHO, if it's not a torrential downpour, pigs will love it(you might not though) and might be out feeding all day. The post front can be great for them and deer as well.
As quacker said, the wind is more of a concern with all big game. They can't hear well with all the rustling.
Cool, wet weather is ideal for hog hunting. They will be out most of the day feeding. If the weather is really nasty they might hole up until it passes. The wet weather makes it tough on driving the dirt roads though.
