I'm new here and seem to be having a problem with the search function. So here goes...

1) Anyone hunt this place in Idaho?
European Wild Boar Hunt
It's only about 90 miles from my place and is open for hogs year round.

2) Being open year round, when is the best time of year for a hog hunt (considering quality of the meat and ease of the hunt)?

I plan to go out with my 8" .480 Ruger Raging Bull with Hornady 325gr bullets. I'm very happy with the accuracy and it feels easier to handle than my 4" .44 Dan Wesson was.

Welcome to the site!

I've never been there but reading the site it looks like there maybe a few things that might not add up there. Maybe I'm wrong this is just what I'm looking at.

''You are guaranteed a pig, or your money will be refunded''

Its 440 acres. As far as I know idaho has no huntable wild boar population (i maybe wrong). Tho they dont look like it from the pictures on the site these sound like stocked/taim pigs to me.

Just depends on what kind of hunt your into.

Good luck!

I also understand that maybe the only place that there is to hunt hogs in your area. If so do what you can with what you've got. Put some meat in the freezer and have a great hunt.

It maybe a lot of fun with a pistol or bow. Sounds like to me that would be the only way to put some sport into it.

Not much to add except a Welcome, Opus. Never hunted that part of the country.

It does sound like a put-and-take operation, but if you know that going in, at least you can make the best of it.

OpusX,

WELCOME Aboard!!!! Glad you joined JHO. I am sure you will be very pleased with the vast amount of knowledge available within this site along with the numerous amounts of very ethical and eager hunters that are always willing to help out any way they can.

As far as this hunt your discussing, I simply have one thing to say. If that hunt looks to be one of the only available hunts for pigs that is accessable to you then go for it. Whether or not its a "put and take" operation, if that is the only available arena for harvesting a pig, by all means try it. If you aren't able to harvest a pig, you get your money back and if you decide that type of a hunt wasn't for you, well. . . your no less better off then when you started. Heck, at least you were in the outdoors, which is what really matters. And, if you ARE able to harvest a pig, you'll have a new hunting story and some delicious meat for your family and if your feeling generous, friends. If you decide, after harvesting your pig, that type of operation was not your thing, at least you have some food for dinner. Also, if you decide to try it, your knowledge and information shared on this site will be helpfull to others that may look for guidance on whether or not to hunt there.

All of us here on JHO love to read our fellow hunters story's. Rest assured we will be looking forward to finding out how your hunt goes, if in fact, you decide to try it.

Welcome to JHO

I agree with what has been said so far and Idaho has some beautiful country to go
for a hike and possibly put some meat on the table at the same time. Good Luck and tell us your story.

Sorry I can't help you either on that ranch.

Your best bet is to hunt in the colder months.
