just one question, was that on private or public land? Just asking since those hogs seem like half farm pigs.

That's a big ol' pig.

Tell us a little about the hunt. Where'd it happen? What kind of hunt was it (dogs, stand over a feeder, spot-n-stalk, etc.)?

Details boy, we want details. Give us the story now, son, and don't hold nothin' back. (Sorry, I'm on a Foghorn Leghorn kick.)

Definitely some big pigs there. I didn't know Oregon had any wild pigs. I thinks Shot's question stems from the fact that those pigs have floppy ears and a short, stubby snout. Those are characteristics of domestic pigs or at least ones that are not very far removed from being domesticated.

This hogs where shot on a ranch in Oregon. The place is 16 square miles as the crow flies but much bigger due to canyons and hills. It was a pretty decent hunt these hogs where the dumb ones. The big red was taken with 3 shots from a Ruger Super Warhawk 44 mag shooting 330gr Garret loads. The smaller pig I shot with a bow. The bow shot pig ran off and died within 50 yards the pistol one ran 20 yards then decided to get some pay back. Second shot was a good shoulder hit that stopped him and the third was through the back to finish him off. None of the bullets penetrated to the other shoulder. Hanging weight at the on the big red was 350 something at the butcher. The other hog was 289 both weight where fully skined no head. I might add the heads where heavy. The shoulder plate on the big boar was roughly 2 inches thick. When shot at point blank range hanging with the bow Rocket expandables did not even penetrate past the plate Muzzy went through to other shoulder but barely.

Well, sounds like you had fun and got plenty of pork.

What was the draw weight on that bow? If we had anything like that running around loose on public land, I'd have to seriously reconsider using my recurve.

Man, those hogs look nothing like our hogs here in California, probably a lot more domesticated than wild.

Looks like the pigs that an outfit has displayed at their booth at the San Mateo show. Canned hunt for monster pigs.

Defenitely some "Farmy" looking pigs. As for mechanical broadheads, I would never recommend anyone shooting one of them at a hog. Just ask the boys up at Hogs Wild and see what they tell ya'. Go MUZZY. Congrats on the oinkers!
