spent cinco de mayo chasing pig's at hog's wild with the bow ,this was my first time at the ranch and I was a little apprehensive about a "fenced hunt" but as it turned out it was physically one of the toughest hunt's I've ever been on. most guy's in camp at night that hunted the steep and deep were complaining about leg cramp's. It's bare bone's accomadation's but the price is right and if you hunt hard you probably will get a shot. the first afternoon I had 5 or 6 20 yd or less shot opportunitie's but held off figuring that it was a no brainer and I would just kill a pig sunday and enjoy hunting friday and sat and learning the layout of the ranch. Well of course I hunted hard sat and didn't see a pig closer than 50 yds and travelling at mach speed all day, then just as it was getting dark and I was leaving a nice black pig about 150 lbs stepped out not 20 yds from me, I nocked an arrow and attempted to attach my release but it wouldn't work, it was stuck closed, so off run's piggy, sun am I'm getting desperate we can only hunt until noon and I'm running out of time so my partner and I decide to sit at a waterhole, for 2 hour's nothing and just when we were about to give up and go back to camp along come's a bunch of pig's, I'm not in a position to shott but my buddy hammer's one and off they go, we decide to wait 30 min and then track his pig so I go off into the bushes to answer nature's call, I'm finished and walking back when I spot a boar with about 3in cutter's coming directly up the trail toward's me, he keep's coming closer and I can't move or I'll spook him, so here I am at full draw with the pig at about 15 ft, now he see's me and stop's but doesn't run and all I have is a head on shot so I'm waiting until he turn's to run b/4 I shoot, he doesn't turn he start's toward me again and I don't have a choice I put an arrow between his neck and shoulder at under 15 ft, he show's no reaction except to turn and walk away over the hill with my fleching sticking up at ear level. We sit down to wait for a moment and coming back thru the field is my buddie's pig heading for the wallow with the arrow protruding out of his side , after his pig laid down in the water he was able to double lung it and put it down for good, we tracked my pig for almost 2 hour's but no blood trail so we did a grid but didn't find him. all in all it was one of the best bowhunt's I've ever had. P.S when I had to shoot that boar head on my butt was so tight I could not have crapped a BB, what a rush !!
