I shot this sow around 5:30 pm on Saturday. I sat under a Cedar tree at our fence line near a hog trail. Of course they used another trail to my right. I was totally exposed as around 10 came out from the woods on the other property. The sow I shot was the leader and once she went under the barbed wire fence she stopped. I could not tell if she saw me, I was 50 feet away. Anyway I did not take any chances and took the shot. She dropped in place. The rest of them scattered back into the woods but two ran by me into our property. I took a few shots but they were to close and I could not use my scope as they ran by.

Gawd it must be soo freakin nice to be able to ride right up near to where you want to hunt that day. Man... I swear CA must be in cahoots with boots manufacturers or something the way they close off soo much to foot traffic only.

Congrats on that pig! That looks like a great day!

Thanks everyone. Although I really enjoyed getting out and hunting in California, most of it was enjoying my ATV riding, out here in Texas it is paradise for me as a hunter. I am very lucky to have, from my wife's side of the family, lots of land to hunt on. And I am the only one on the properties... I am still shocked when I see a hog out in the field, let alone a sounder. (I mostly hunted upland birds in California). I can ride my ATV and "jump shoot" sleeping hogs, hike through the woods to find them, or setup a field blind on a pig trail or down by the lake. I waited 30 plus years for this. I am making sure to take advantage of this opportunity...I will keep you updated.

Keep showing us those hogs. I don't need more of a reason to come to Texas but this is one of the reasons I'm going anyways. Can't wait to hang out with family and hunt hogs anytime. You are living the dream buddy. Congrats. BBQ time for sure.
